Shifeng practised law before moving to China's ministry of labour and social security in 1990, where he worked to develop an investment policy for pension funds. Shifeng joined Martin Currie's Asia team in 1997 and co-managed the China Heartland Fund, which at that time was the only offshore fund to access China's A-share market, until 2002. In 2006, Martin Currie, Chris Ruffle and Shifeng established MC China Limited - a joint venture dedicated to running our range of specialist China strategies. He is co-manager of the China Fund Inc.
