The China Fund, Inc. Announces Date of Annual Meeting of Stockholders
NEW YORK, Jan. 11

The China Fund, Inc. (NYSE: CHN) (the "Fund") announced today that the Fund's annual meeting of stockholders will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the offices of Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells LLP, 200 Park Avenue, New York, New York 10166. The Fund also announced that the Board of Directors of the Fund has fixed the close of business on January 23, 2001 as the record date for the determination of stockholders entitled to notice of and to vote at the annual meeting. At the annual meeting, stockholders will be asked to consider four nominees for election as directors of the Fund.
